How To: Use the "Okay, Google" Hands-Free Search Directly on Your Computer
Google hasn't let the throne make them complacent. The king of search has brought one of its newest and most popular mobile features to the desktop. Folks with the latest 4.4 KitKat software available on the Nexus 5 (or those who've installed the awesome APKs we covered for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3) have had the "Ok, Google" search feature for a while now. This hands-free search feature allows for users to speak to their Android devices and search the web to their hearts' content.
Ok Google for the DesktopIt works just as advertised and makes searching for things in the car or while multitasking so much easier. Now you can have those same benefits on your laptop or desktop computer. All you need to do is install this Google Search extension in the Chrome browser and allow access to your microphone. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
The extension is still in beta, but I haven't noticed anything faulty yet. The most useful searches I found were for mathematical conversions, correct tipping amounts and even language translations.

Voice Commands & Easter EggsYou can do everything from looking up word definitions to finding out what time it is on the other side of the world. My personal favorite command is one of the Easter eggs included in the extension: "Do a barrel roll." (Anyone with an N64 and Star Fox knows exactly what I 'm talking about.)Take a look at some of the common and not so common voice commands for your new Google Search tool below. A lot of people like to type their own faces and emotes into chat and we do not want them being auto-converted into emoticons, especially when the 'translation' is wrong.
