How To: Make Copy/Paste Insanely Better on Android with Clipboard Actions

How To: Make Copy/Paste Insanely Better on Android with Clipboard Actions
Android's copy/paste menu and text selection options have traditionally been downright terrible, but things are starting to get better with some recent improvements made in Marshmallow. That being said, there's still a lot left to be desired, and there's always plenty of room for more useful functionality.Don't Miss: How to Add a Pop-Up Dictionary to Any Android App But an app from developer Halfreal Games has the potential to finally turn Android's clipboard into a truly useful utility. The app waits until you copy any text, then immediately pops up with a notification that allows you to perform quick actions like searching the text, calling a number, generating a QR code, and much more.I've covered a similar app before, but it had an intrusive menu with ads, whereas this newer one covers less screen real estate and has zero ads.

Step 1: Install Clipboard ActionsTo get started with this one, you'll just need to install an app called Clipboard Actions. It's available for free on the Google Play Store, so search it by name and get it installed, or head directly to the install page at the following link.Install Clipboard Actions for free from the Google Play Store

Step 2: Choose Your ActionsFrom here, setup is really simple. To begin, make sure the "Clipboard Service" option at the top of the screen is enabled, then you can review some of the actions you'll be able to perform when you select some text. The clipboard actions can be selectively disabled if you'd like, but I would suggest that you leave them all turned on, because they only show up when they're relevant.

Step 3: Copy Text & Perform ActionsTo use the app, simply highlight some text in any app on your device, then choose "Copy" from the context menu. Almost immediately, a notification will appear with relevant actions that you can perform with the text in your clipboard.Clipboard Actions is contextually-aware, so the notification will only display relevant actions. For example, if you copy a phone number, you'll see an option to call, but if you copy an address, you'll get a button for quick directions. On top of that, Clipboard Actions will find relevant keywords within the text you've copied and provide actions for those as well. In your opinion, what's the biggest time-saving feature of Clipboard Actions? How To: This Android App Lets You Cast Unsupported Web Videos to Chromecast

How To: This Android App Lets You Cast Unsupported Web Videos to Chromecast
The Google Chrome browser for Android allows you to cast quite a few different videos from the web to your TV, but some sites actively disable this functionality, and others have outdated video players that won't allow for it. For example, Instagram's mobile website won't let you cast any videos, and the official app doesn't support Google Cast.To help with these problems, developer Martin Kainzbauer created a new mobile web browser designed specifically for casting content to your Chromecast, and it works for Amazon Fire TV and Android TV as well. As a result, we can now play almost any video from the mobile web right on the big screen, and all you need is an Android device to make it happen.

Step 1: Install Cast ControllerTo get this one going, start by installing Cast Controller, the browser built for Chromecast, Fire TV and Android TV.Install Cast Controller for free from the Google Play Store

Step 2: Cast Almost Any Web VideoWhen you first launch Cast Controller, you'll get a feature tour. After dismissing that, you'll be ready to try it out—and as a rule of thumb, any video that will play in a mobile browser can be sent to your TV, so keep that in mind.So start by navigating to any website with the address bar at the top of the screen. From here, tap the cast icon in the top-right corner, then select your Google Cast device or Fire TV. Once you're connected, the developer recommends that you play any videos on the page so that the browser will recognize them, and when you do that, the button in the bottom right corner will turn orange. After that, just tap the floating action button in the bottom-right corner of the screen, then the video will start playing on your TV. You can use the controls at the bottom of the app to play, pause, and skip, so it's a regular casting experience, but it works with almost everything. There are similar browser apps for iOS devices, but they're clunky, don't support Chromecast, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV together, and still won't play all video types. So, if you want to cast videos from your browser, Android is definitely the winner here, which is no big surprise.Follow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube Follow Android Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

News: 24 Cool New Features in iOS 11.3 for iPhone

News: 24 Cool New Features in iOS 11.3 for iPhone
While iOS 11.3 doesn't have as many new features as iOS 11.2, there's still a lot to love about Apple's latest update for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, even if some of the best features we were expecting didn't make the cut.Apple released the iOS 11.3 beta on Jan. 24, and just over two months later, the final stable version to everyone on March 29. While there are no doubt a few iPad-specific updates, we'll focus mostly on iPhone-related updates below.Sadly, huge features that didn't make it in iOS 11.3, as everyone would have hoped, were Messages on iCloud, as well as AirPlay 2 functionality. At least, it's not yet obvious if those features are included. They will likely be included in iOS 11.4, but hopefully not as far away as iOS 12.

1. There Are 4 New Animoji (iPhone X Only)Aside from the 12 already included, there are now 4 more Animoji characters, all of which have a global feel to them, indicating that Apple wants to keep international users happy. There's a dragon, bear, skull, and lion, which pair well with China, Russia, Mexico, and Africa, respectively.More Info: iOS 11.3 Update Introduces Brand New Set of Animoji Characters

2. You Can Check Battery HealthThis feels like a feature that should have been included in iOS since the very beginning. Visit the "Battery" section in your Settings app to see a new battery health indicator, called "Battery Health (Beta)," which will show you your battery's maximum capacity and well as its peak performance. It will also recommend that your battery be serviced, i.e., replaced, if needed.More Info: How to Check Your iPhone's Battery Health in iOS 11

3. And Turn Off Power ThrottlingAlso available is the tool for disabling the power throttling that Apple has secretly implemented since iOS 10.2.1. This throttling happened as a result of weak batteries that could trigger unexpected shutdowns. While shutdowns should not happen, overall device performance takes a hit.So, if you'd like to speed up your iPhone while chancing a few shutdowns if you're in need of a new battery (see above new feature), you can toggle this off in the Peak Performance Capability section in the new "Battery Health (Beta)" tool. If your iPhone is being throttled, you can tap "Disable" to do just that. It will remain disabled until further shutdowns happen.More Info: Disable Performance Throttling on Your iPhone Due to Battery Issues This is only available for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple has included hardware fixes for the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X that don't require this option, but those devices can still view the data available in the battery health tool.

4. Your Health Records Can Appear in HealthIf you already love the Health app, this might make you love it even more ... if your medical providers participate in the program. If you're one of the lucky ones that visit participating clinics and medical institutions, you'll be able to see medical data such as records, allergies, visits, known conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, upcoming procedures, and more. To try it out, go to "Health Records" in the "Health Data" tab, hit "Get Started," then select your provider from the list that pops up, and log into your account. This feature is currently in its "beta" phase, so it might not be buggy here and there.More Info: How to Import Your Health Records onto Your iPhone in iOS 11.3

5. There's More Privacy AwarenessA new icon will appear whenever Apple requests your personal information, which shows Apple's effort in being more open about the type of data they collect and when. The icon will link to detailed information about how your data will be used and protected. More importantly, it seems to be an attempt at preventing phishing attempts for your iCloud password. The "Privacy" icon in the Settings app has also changed from gray colored to blue to match this new icon.Apple believes privacy is a fundamental human right, so every Apple product is designed to:Use on-device processing wherever possible. Limit the collection and use of data. Provide transparency and control over your information. Build on a strong foundation of security.
— Apple
6. Your Call to 911 Will Tell Them Where You're AtAnother new feature adds support for Advanced Mobile Location (AML), which will automatically send your current location when making an emergency call or using Emergency SOS where AML is supported. This fixes a huge issue since it's hard for emergency service providers to find your location otherwise unless you can audibly tell them, which is not always possible.Don't Miss: Use the Emergency SOS Shortcut on Your iPhone in iOS 11

7. ARKit 1.5 Makes Augmented Reality Even BetterWhile this isn't a feature you can turn on or see the results clear as day, it is something developers can take advantage of when making their augmented reality apps with ARKit. The new 1.5 version supports vertical and horizontal surfaces such as walls, doors, and tables, as well as irregular-shaped surfaces such as circular tables. It also supports detecting images such as movie posters or artworks and integrating that into the AR experience. Resolution is also 50% higher for the real-world view perceived through the camera and auto-focus works.More Info: Apple Adds Much-Needed Surface Recognition in ARKit Update ARKit 1.5 showing off a poster being turned into an interactive AR experience. 8. Apple Music Has Music Videos to WatchIf you subscribe to Apple Music, you can stream all of the music videos you want without any ads. Most music videos currently found in iTunes that have their songs available in Apple Music to stream are accessible with this new feature, and you can make music video playlists featuring "the hottest new videos, the classics, or ones from [your] favorite artists," according to Apple. This feature actually rolled out as a server-side update in iOS 11.2.6 but was meant for iOS 11.3, and it includes "exclusive video playlists."
9. You Can Find Friends with Similar Music TastesIf you subscribe to Apple Music, music videos aren't the only thing new that you just got. Apple Music's improved suggestions will show you friends that have a similar taste in music, showing the list of genres that you and your mutual friends follow. It's not a big thing, but it's always nice to know your friends that listen to similar songs.

10. The Keyboard Received a Few UpdatesWhen you're dictating text in a note or elsewhere, you'd previously have to tap on the keyboard icon to return to the keyboard. This wasn't great, since instinctually, you'd probably tap near the text if you needed to fix something dictation got wrong. Now, in iOS 11.3, you can tap anywhere to exit the dictation mode.Apple has also fixed a bug that would automatically capitalize the first letter in some words using auto-correction. Aside from that, the rest of the keyboard updates are for non-English users:Adds two Shuangpin keyboard layouts. Adds support for connected hardware keyboards using the Turkish F keyboard layout. Improves Chinese and Japanese keyboards for better reachability on 4.7-inch or 5.5-inch devices. Fixes an issue that could cause the Thai keyboard to incorrectly switch to the numeric layout when in landscape mode. Dictation in iOS 11.2.6 and below (left) vs. iOS 11.3 (right).

11. There's More Info for App UpdatesIn addition to the all of the notes developers provide for their apps when an update becomes available, there is now version numbers and file sizes listed at the bottom of each app update. This is a nice addition since you can tell exactly which version it is and whether or not you want to take up that much space or not right now.

12. And You Can Finally Sort ReviewsOne of the biggest issues with the App Store has always been the reviews section — you could never really tell why certain reviews were showing first. Now, iOS 11.3 solves this with a way to sort reviews by most helpful, most favorable, most critical, or most recent.More Info: How to Sort App Store Reviews on Your iPhone in iOS 11.3

13. The App Switcher Is Faster (iPhone X Only)Thanks to iOS 11.3, it's a lot faster when you swipe up from the bottom of the iPhone X to access the app switcher. You might not notice the change at first, but once you realize it's faster, you'll never want to go back.More Info: iOS 11.3 Makes Multitasking Faster on the iPhone X iOS 11.2.5 (left) vs. iOS 11.3 (right) at 0.25x speed. 14. Face ID for Purchases Explained Better (iPhone X Only)Users not used to a Side button that does almost everything can sometimes get confused when the "Double Click to Install" or "Double Click to Pay" animation came up on the screen when using Face ID to install an app or pay for something. A lot of users were tapping on the screen, not clicking the Side button. In iOS 11.3, Apple has made it more clear what you need to do with an additional animation that says "Confirm with Side Button" in the details popup at the bottom.

15. You Can Use Face ID for 'Ask to Buy' (iPhone X Only)If you have Family Sharing set up and enabled the "Ask to Buy" feature on a child's iPhone, whenever that child tries to buy something from the App Store (including in-app purchases), iTunes, and iBooks, even if it's free, they won't be able to do so unless you approve the request on your iPhone. However, if you have an iPhone X, you couldn't use Face ID to approve those requests before. Instead, you'd have to type in your password, but in iOS 11.3, you can finally use the convenience of Face ID.More Info: How to Use Face ID on iPhone X to Approve Download Requests Images by 9to5Mac/YouTube

16. Apple News Got a Few Changes"Top Stories" in Apple News is now always the first thing up top in the "For You" tab. Also, there are new "Top Videos" groups to "stay up-to-date on the most important videos of the day."

17. You Can Delete Individual Game Center FriendsPreviously, you could only "Remove All Game Center Friends" from the "Game Center" preferences in the Settings app. Now, you can tap on "Friends" from the same menu and delete them individually instead. It makes a lot more sense this way, and I'm surprised Apple hasn't already done this already.

18. The Calculator Is Back in Proper FormThis is by far the smallest feature on this page, but it's interesting nonetheless. Back in iOS 11.1, the Calculator app developed a degenerative disease that caused it to lag considerably, making fast calculations impossible. Apple cured the disease in iOS 11.2, but the animation on the operator symbols (e.g., the + sign) got kicked to the curb. However, the animation is back in all its glory in iOS 11.3.
19. Podcasts Are Easier to PlayThis is only relevant if you listen to podcasts in Apple's Podcasts app, of course, but you can now play a podcast with a single tap, and you learn more about each podcast by tapping on "Details."

20. Business Chats Are Open for ... BusinessBusiness Chat was teased at WWDC back in June and has been all but forgotten about since. However, it just made an appearance in iOS 11.3, and it wasn't even accessible by users of the iOS 11.3 betas! With it, you can communicate directly with businesses in the Messages app. Eventually, any companies can hop on board to support this feature, but it's starting with a few select businesses including Apple, Discover, Hilton, The Home Depot, Lowe's, Marriott International, Newegg, Ameritrade, Wells Fargo, and 1-800-Flowers.com.You can initiate a chat with the aforementioned companies from within Maps, Siri, Spotlight Search, and Safari. There are also QR codes, located in stores, online, or in advertisements, that you can scan to start a chat, as well as links. In a Business Chat, you can talk to a representative, schedule appointments, and make purchases using Apple Pay.More Info: How to Use Business Chat to Securely Interact with Companies

21. Safari Is More Secure NowThere are a bunch of small updates to Safari in iOS 11.3, and most of them are security-related. Instead of auto-filling in your username in password automatically when you go to a certain login page, it won't auto-fill them unless you select those spots in the web form. Also, there's a new red warning in the "Smart Search Field" when there are passwords and credit card web forms on non-encrypted webpages. If you don't see a red "Website Not Secure" message, the site is using HTTPS, and you're secure from man-in-the-middle attacks. A secure web form (left) vs. a non-secure one (right).

22. And Has a Few More Tricks Up Its SleeveAside from those security updates in Safari, "AutoFill" is now also available for usernames and passwords in web views within apps that use the Safari browser. Folders in the "Favorites" menu also now show icons for the bookmarks that are contained within them. The last feature adds a Reader mode view of a web article that you share from Safari to Mail, so your recipients won't even have to click through to read the article — they can read it right in their email!

23. There Are Some Accessibility ImprovementsWhile these aren't necessarily must-have features and fixes for everyone, Apple did include some updates to the "Accessibility" section in iOS 11.3. If you like to have bold and/or large text enabled, the App Store will now also support it. Aside from that, the other changes for iPhones are as listed below.Smart Invert adds support images on the web and in Mail messages. Improves RTT experience and adds RTT support for T-Mobile. Corrects a problem with the incorrect description of the Bluetooth status icon and the Bluetooth icon by VoiceOver. Addresses an issue where VoiceOver incorrectly described Bluetooth status and badge icons. Fixes an issue where end call button might not be presented in the Phone app when using VoiceOver. Fixes an issue where in-app app rating was not accessible with VoiceOver. Resolves an issue when using Live Listen that could distort audio playback.
24. There's Support for Progressive Web AppsOne feature not mentioned at all by Apple is that Safari now supports PWAs, or progressive web apps. These apps you install on your iPhone right from Safari — no need to open the iOS App Store — and they're installed just like any other website or webpage you would add to your home screen as a shortcut. Unlike non-PWA webpages, PWAs can actually work offline and they can access certain device functions such as geolocation, sensors, camera, audio output, Apple Pay, and more.Don't Miss: How to Save a Webpage to Your Home Screen for Instant Access
Smaller Changes/Fixes That Came with iOS 11.3The above options are the biggest and best changes iOS 11.3 came with, but there are still a few more updates and fixes that Apple included in the latest software for iPhones, aside from the usual security patches. Here's the rest:Adds support for software authentication as a new way for developers to create and enable HomeKit compatible accessories. Improves search performance for users with long notes in Contacts. Improves performance of Handoff and Universal Clipboard when both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Fixes an issue that could prevent incoming calls from waking the display. Addresses an issue that could delay or prevent playback of Visual Voicemail. Resolves an issue that prevented opening a web link in Messages. Fixes an issue that could prevent users from returning to Mail after previewing a message attachment. Fixes an issue that could cause Mail notifications to reappear on the Lock screen after they had been cleared. Resolves an issue that could cause time and notifications to disappear from the Lock Screen. Fixes an issue in Weather where current weather conditions may not have been updated. Fixes an issue where contacts may not sync with a car's phone book when connected over Bluetooth. Addresses an issue that could prevent audio apps from playing in cars when the app was in the background.Update: Messages on iCloud, AirPlay 2, and iBooks being referred to as "Books" were removed as features from this article since the public version of iOS 11.3 did not include them for unknown reasons.Don't Miss: 20 Features That Appeared in iOS 11.2 for iPhoneFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flipboard Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flipboard

Underwood says that the odds of winning are "low, but fair" and that there's very little chance that you'll be a winner in the first few days that you use the app.Simply open the app to see the featured paid app, click the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button, then see if you've won. Promo Codes users should get used to seeing the "Unlucky!" screen. Maybe your luck will change in 12 hours, though. From the sound of the description on the Play Store page, Promo Codes is more concerned with giving users a look at apps from up-and-coming developers, and not giving them away for free. As Underwood bluntly states: "If you're expecting to win often, you're wasting your time downloading Promo Codes." Whaaaaa?!? Image via Universal Pictures On the plus side, you don't need to make a username or sign up for anything, so there's really nothing at stake. And if you don't win, you could come across an app that you think is worth spending a couple bucks on. Promo Codes sends your phone a notification when your 12 hours are up, so you can check out another app that you will (most likely) not win.If you're a developer and would like to have your app promoted inside Promo Codes, email promocodes@underwoodapps.com with your request.Let us know what you think of Promo Codes in the comment section below, or drop us a line on Android Hacks' Facebook or Twitter, or on Gadget Hacks' Facebook, Google+, or Twitter.

How To: Manage Stored Passwords So You Don't Get Hacked

How To: Manage Stored Passwords So You Don't Get Hacked
Chrome, Firefox, and Safari all provide built-in features that allow you to save your username and password for your favorite sites, making the process for entering your credentials a breeze when you revisit them. While this automation does make your life a little easier, it definitely doesn't make it more secure. Someone else using your computer, whether it's a friend borrowing it or a thief who stole it from you, could essentially go fire up your web browser and log in to all of your accounts using the same feature.Luckily, there are steps that you can take in order to prevent others from viewing your stored passwords or hacking into your accounts.
Viewing & Deleting Saved CredentialsUsing three of the more popular web browsers across Windows and OS X, we're going to show you:How to check which usernames and passwords are stored How to view the passwords for each account How to delete an account from being stored How to stop your browser from storing future account information

Google ChromeTo view saved usernames and passwords in Chrome:Click the Chrome menu (three-line icon) in the toolbar Select Settings Click Show advanced settings... Scroll down to Passwords and forms In Manage passwords, you'll find out which websites you have your username and passwords stored for. To view a password, click on an account, then click Show. Thankfully, you have to type in your computer's admin credentials to view any of the passwords, so you don't have to worry about someone else easily viewing your account information. To permanently delete a saved account's username and password, click to highlight it in blue, then click on the X on the far right. To stop Chrome from prompting you to save your password every time you log in to a new website, uncheck the box next to Offer to save your web passwords.

Mozilla FirefoxIf you're using FireFox, follow these steps to view saved usernames and passwords:Click on the Firefox menu (three-line icon) in the toolbar Select Preferences Go to Security Click on Saved Passwords You can view all of your saved accounts in the Password Manager , and view their passwords by clicking Show Password. Unlike Chrome, you don't need to enter your computer's admin info, so be weary of what you have saved here (or use a master password, which I'll show you later).Click on an account and choose Remove to delete it, or simply click Remove All to get rid of all your saved accounts. Uncheck Remember passwords for sites to stop Firefox from storing your passwords going forward. Firefox has a built-in feature that allows you to password-protect your Saved Passwords. Just check the box next to Use a master password, then make sure you create the strongest password possible. Once per session, you'll be asked to enter the password in order to view saved usernames and passwords. This feature is important so that other people using your computer can't easily view your stored credentials for your various web activities.

Apple SafariTo find saved passwords in Safari:Click on Safari in the menu bar Choose Preferences Go to Password To view passwords check the box next to Show passwords for selected websites, select an account from the list, then enter your computer's admin username and password. Remove an account credential by highlighting it, then clicking Remove. To stop Safari from auto-filling your account information, uncheck the box next to AutoFill user names and passwords.

Make Your Passwords StrongerNow that you have a better idea of how many of your accounts are vulnerable, it's time to shore-up the passwords associated with them. Unfortunately, many of us use rather simple passwords: a phrase that means something important coupled with a few numbers at the end. Because of this, these passwords can easily be cracked, whether it's by computer software or someone that knows you well enough to make educated guesses. To get a feel for how secure your password is, enter it into How Secure Is My Password. The website lets you know how long it would theoretically take for a computer to crack your password. The more intricate your password, the longer it will take the computer to figure it out. If your password takes seconds, or even just a few hours to crack, you need to make it stronger. Change capitalization, add more numbers and/or characters, and make it a bit longer if it's too short. Here are some quick tips on creating a stronger passwords (thanks to resident hacker OccupyTheWeb):Never use dictionary words: certain hacking tools can create wordlists from dictionaries to easily crack your password Use all of the allowable character types: use at least one uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character in your password Use a passphrase: create a phrase or sentence and convert it into a single string of different characters. For example: "I love skateboarding on the weekends"can turn into"I<3Sk8b0ard1ng0ntHew33k3nd$"Additionally, you can use the first letter of every word in a sentence, then add specialized letters/numbers/characters to create individual passwords for every account. Say you want a password for Netflix:"My favorite movie is Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark"can turn into"mfmiIJatRotLA:NTFLX"According to How Secure Is My Password "I<3Sk8b0ard1ng0ntHew33k3nd$" would take 24 duodecillion years to crack, while "mfmiIJatRotLA:NTFLX" would take a quintillion.Sounds pretty damn secure.

Use a Password ManagerNow you've got strong passwords and you're feeling a little more secure, but how the hell are you supposed to remember all of them?! Not only are they difficult to recall on an individual basis, but if you're creating strong and unique passwords for each of your accounts, then remembering all of them could be a tad overwhelming. With the help of a password manager such as LastPass and Dashlane, you don't have to worry about remembering those hard to remember passwords. Just use a single master password (that is never stored locally) to automatically log into all your accounts. Again, your master password is never stored locally, either on Dashlane or on Lastpass—instead, it is used to generate your secured private encryption key on the fly. Get more details here, but the point is, your master password cannot be found if you're device is ever compromised. Image via wonderhowto.com If you don't have strong passwords for all of your accounts, both LastPass and Dashlane give you the option to generate one and switch it out with your old one.Once you're done using your computer and logging in to your accounts, you can easily log out of either password manager so that your computer doesn't automatically log you back in.To learn more about how to set up a password manager on your computer, check out our guide on dealing with the Heatbleed vulnerability.
Keep Safe Out ThereWith this information in tow, you should have a pretty good grasp on how to keep your precious usernames and saved passwords from unwanted eyes. A few more tips that I would suggest:When logging in to an account on another computer, always make sure to say Not Now or Never when prompted if whether you want your password saved for this account (and don't forget to log out of those accounts). Never send precious passwords via text message or email. You never know when your keyboard might be keeping track. If possible, set up two-step authentication so that a numeric code is sent to your device or email when someone logs in to your account. Have any other tips on how you keep your account usernames and passwords secure? Let us know in the comments section below, or on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

How To: Add, Remove, & Rearrange Control Center Toggles on Your iPhone
As far as customization goes, there's nothing you can do to change the look and function of the Control Center on your iPhone. By default, you can't alter the system toggles, but if your device is jailbroken, it's a completely different story. With the help of a tweak from developer plipala, called CCSettings for iOS 8, you can add, remove, and rearrange your Control Center toggles. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
Step 1: Jailbreak Your DeviceBefore we start, make sure that you have a jailbroken iOS 8 device with Cydia installed. It's a really quick and painless process, so get that taken care of and you'll be ready to do almost anything.

Step 2: Install CCSettings for iOS 8From Cydia, simply search for CCSettings, then tap the "Install" option on the top right, followed by "Confirm." After installation, hit "Restart Springboard" and wait for your device to boot back up.

Step 3: Add More Toggles to the Control CenterNow head to Settings -> CCSettings to begin editing your Control Center. A few of the settings that appear include:Toggles per line: chose how many toggles you want per line (4, 5 or 6) Dismiss control center: hide the Control Center automatically when you select a toggle Kill music: stops music when you tap the kill background toggle White list: choose which apps you don't want closed when tapping the kill background toggle The bottom half is where you can rearrange all the newly available and standard options. New toggles include Home, Lock, Kill Background, Respring, Screen Shot, Clear Badge, and Reboot, among others.

Step 4: Use Your New TogglesWhen you bring up your Control Center, you should see your new toggles in place. Depending on how many toggles you have per line, you can view the next line of toggles by swiping to either side. Are there any other Cydia apps or tweaks for iOS 8 that have caught your attention? Rumor Roundup: All of the Cool New Gadgets to Look for at Mobile World Congress 2017

Rumor Roundup: All of the Cool New Gadgets to Look for at Mobile World Congress 2017
It's that time of year again. The world's largest electronics companies are sending representatives to the annual Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, and for gadget lovers like us, that means we'll get our first look at some of this year's biggest upcoming flagship smartphones.Major players like Samsung, LG, Motorola, BlackBerry, Huawei, and even Nokia will be present at the event, and most will be unveiling a new smartphone or two. MWC 2017 officially kicks off on Monday, February 27, and lasts until Thursday, March 2. Press events begin as early as Saturday, February 25, which is fast approaching—so we'll go over what to expect below.

Samsung: Galaxy S8 Release Date RevealedIn an effort to boost the hype levels for their highly anticipated flagship, Samsung will be announcing the release date for their new Galaxy S8 models at MWC. Yep, you heard that right—the Korean tech giant will be announcing an announcement.Samsung holds their own press events when unveiling new flagship models, so don't expect to actually see the Galaxy S8 at MWC. But we do know quite a bit about the phone already—including the fact that it should have a screen-to-body ratio of 90% or higher, as well as rear-facing fingerprint sensor. To get the full rundown, don't miss our Galaxy S8 rumor roundup below.Don't Miss: Galaxy S8 Rumor Roundup—Here's the Latest on Samsung's Upcoming Flagship A render of the upcoming Galaxy S8, based on leaked specifications. LG: New G6 Flagship UnveiledOn Sunday, February 26, at 6 a.m. Eastern time, LG will be unveiling their latest flagship model, the G6. The Korean manufacturer has a lot riding on the G6, as LG's smartphone division has been hemorrhaging money lately, so we're all hoping for a home run here. The G6 is rumored to be using last year's Snapdragon 821 CPU, as Samsung reportedly bought up the entire first batch of the newer Snapdragon 835 processor to use in its Galaxy S8. Nonetheless, LG's new flagship should be packing quite a punch, with rumored features including a high screen-to-body ratio, rounded display corners, an all metal and glass build, and a unique 18:9 aspect ratio.UPDATE: LG Unveils the LG G6—Dual Cameras, 18:9 Aspect Ratio, Waterproof & More Render of the upcoming LG G6. Motorola: New Midrange Moto G5 & Moto G5 Plus ModelsLenovo, the company that now owns the Motorola brand, will take the stage at MWC on Monday, February 27, at 2:30 a.m. Eastern time. While they're up there, the company is expected to unveil two new midrange models: The Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus. Thanks to a leak from Colombian telco K-Tronix, we now know all of the juicy details about both Motorola phones. Both devices will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat and a water repellent coating, but the G5 Plus will have slightly better specs when compared to the cheaper G5 model.UPDATE: Meet the New Moto G5 & Moto G5 Plus—Budget Phones with a Premium Build The Moto G5 Plus. BlackBerry: Android Flagship with a Physical KeyboardBlackBerry officially made the switch to Android with the release of their PRIV flagship back in 2015, and they've since released a pair of midrange devices in the DTEK50 and DTEK60. This year, they're finally back with another flagship-tier smartphone, code-named "Mercury," which was shown off to a select few reporters at CES 2017 in January. On Saturday, February 25, at 1 p.m. Eastern time, the rest of the world will get its first glimpse of the BlackBerry Mercury. In true BlackBerry fashion, the phone will sport a physical keyboard, and it will also be using the same top-notch camera sensor found in the Google Pixel. If you'd like to catch up on the latest news about the Mercury, make sure to check out the following rumor roundup.UPDATE: BlackBerry Unveils the KeyOne—A New Security-Focused Phone with a Physical Keyboard The BlackBerry Mercury's physical keyboard. Huawei: P10 Flagship UnveiledHuawei's been putting effort towards breaking into the US smartphone market lately, starting with the Nexus 6P, a joint venture between the Chinese manufacturer and Google. This year, they're expected to up the premium factor with a new P10 flagship model, which we should almost certainly see at Mobile World Congress.Huawei's scheduled to hit the stage on Sunday, February 26 in Barcelona, though we're still not sure about an exact time. We do, however, know that the P10 will come in three distinctive colors, which you can check out in the following image. The Huawei P10 will come in three unique colors. Nokia: New Android Phones & the Return of the 3310After an unsuccessful foray into the world of Windows Phone, Microsoft has sold the Nokia brand to a company called HMD Global, which was founded by several executives from the original Finnish iteration of Nokia. So this year marks a revival of sorts, and Nokia is slated to debut a whopping four phones at MWC to celebrate. At a conference on Sunday, February 26, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Eastern time, we expect to see the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 unveiled. In addition to that, HMD Global is rumored to be relaunching the ubiquitous Nokia 3310 from the early-'00s, presumably for its novelty appeal. The Nokia 6 has already been released in China, so we know a fair amount about the device already—however, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 will be all new at MWC. The Nokia 6. Image via HMD Global
Sony: New Xperia DevicesSony is rumored to be announcing at least one new Xperia phone at Mobile World Congress. They've sent out press invites for a conference that will take place on Monday, February 27, at 2:30 a.m. Eastern time, so if any US readers out there want to catch this one live, make sure to set an alarm.
Other ManufacturersHTC is planning to release six or seven flagships in 2017, and they started by unveiling the HTC U Ultra at CES earlier this year. However, the company is not expected to attend Mobile World Congress, so it's doubtful that we'll see anything new at MWC.Xiaomi will not be attending Mobile World Congress either, so we don't expect much from the Chinese manufacturer. Finally, a few other manufacturers—most notably, Asus and ZTE—should be in attendance at Mobile World Congress, but there aren't any other substantial rumors in terms of upcoming smartphone releases, so it's doubtful we'll see a new Zenfone or Axon this February.Don't Miss: iPhone 8 Rumor Roundup—Here's the Latest on Apple's 10th Anniversary SmartphoneFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube Follow Android Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

How To: This Tool Gives You Auto-Save Features in Any Windows App

Dreaded are the days when you're working on a masterpiece, then all of a sudden, your Windows computer crashes, loses power, or an app just gets up and quits. Well, now there's an app for that.According to MakeUseOf, with an app called AutoSaver, you can automatically save the file you're working on every five minutes or less, ensuring that your work will always stay secure. It's a simple app that works with almost any Windows version, so lost files should now be a thing of the past. AutoSaver in action. Image by Dallas Thomas/Gadget Hacks
How AutoSaver WorksIf you want to try AutoSaver, you can download it here—it's completely free and only 21 KB. After downloading, unzip it, and store it somewhere you can access easily. You don't even need to install it, although, if you are still using Windows 7 or earlier, you'll have to install the .NET Framework 4 first.AutoSaver will run in the background of whatever program you are working on, and the way it works is simple; The app basically hits the Ctrl+S "save" shortcut for you, but at a pre-set time interval that can be configured as frequently as one minute. Some apps on Windows, such as Word and Premiere, already have an auto-save function built in. But if you're working in Photoshop, After Effects, or Reaper, AutoSaver will certainly come in handy.
Setting Up AutoSaverTo set up AutoSaver, you'll need to whitelist or blacklist apps using either the "Auto save in all apps except" option, or the "Auto save only in these apps" setting. Then, you'll need to adjust the "Auto Save Interval," and please, make sure to check the box for "Run when Windows starts" so that the feature will be available at all times. For instance, if you didn't want to add Chrome to AutoSaver, you could add it to the "Auto save in all apps except" so Ctrl+S will not be pressed every few minutes while you're networking away. Just remember that if you don't add certain apps to the blacklist, they will be auto-saved at every interval. Now, sit back, relax, and never again worry about losing your data while working in any of Windows' apps.Don't Miss: Everything You Need to Disable in Windows 10Follow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

How To: Get Mac OS X's App Dock on Your Windows PC

How To: Get Mac OS X's App Dock on Your Windows PC

The dock in Mac OS X is intuitive, customizable, and aesthetically pleasing, which is a stark difference from its clunky Windows alternative. In fact, in Windows, it takes both the Start menu and taskbar to accomplish what Apple's dock does—but it doesn't have to be like that. Below, I'll show you how to add an OS X-inspired dock on any PC running Windows XP or higher.
Step 1: Install Aqua DockStart by installing the free application called Aqua Dock, linked below. The download will be an EXE file, so just launch it and let it install to your system, then launch it and a dock will appear at the bottom of your screen.Download Aqua Dock 1.0 for free

Step 2: Add & Remove ApplicationsTo add applications, drag an app's icon from your desktop to the dock. To remove them, simply drag them out of the dock. When you open an app, the icon will jump with a small indicator arrow appearing below it, just like on OS X.

Step 3: Customize the DockRight-clicking on the dock will show a small contextual menu where you can enable Magnification, keep the dock locked ("Always on Top"), change the position the dock (great for using the OS X dock and the standard task bar), and add separators between apps. To access more settings, click on "Customize." Customization is vast, and there are specific tabs for Appearance, Position, Behavior, Labels, Menu, and Performance. In these tabs, you can change the dock and notification size, dock theme, dock transparency, how animations work, the font, size, and color of app labels, the size of icons, and the quality of picture and transition smoothness. Through the settings, I increased the magnification, made the dock icons a bit larger, changed the font, and made the background completely transparent, as you can see below. Pretty cool, right? The only thing I wish it had was an option to use Windows icon for apps instead of Mac icons. With the Mac icons, it can be pretty confusing if you're not familiar with them already. Even then...Follow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Google+, or Twitter for more tips!
