Since the introduction of LED flash to smartphones, there have been hundreds of flashlight apps flooding Google Play, since most Android phones do not have built-in flashlight apps, including the HTC One.Third-party flashlights are great for lighting up dark corners, but sometimes we don't have the time, or patience, to unlock our phones and open an app. Or worse yet, we could download a malicious app, bringing with it all sorts of malware onto our devices.XPosed Torch, created by Mohamed Karami (better known as the renowned wanam), lets you quickly turn on your LED light using the Volume Up button on your One, all with an open-source mod that's free of malware. This is an Xposed module so be sure that your One is rooted and that you have Xposed Framework installed. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Installing & Activating Xposed TorchOpen Xposed Installer on your HTC One and tap the Downloads section, then find the module named Xposed Torch and tap the Download button. Allow the module to install and then tap Done once it has finished. Now go to the Module section of Xposed and make sure to check the box next to Xposed Torch to activate the module. Then reboot your device.

Setting Up Xposed Torch to Your PreferencesThe settings page for Xposed Torch is pretty bare bones, but it does come with some useful options. You should enable the Torch Helper so that you can still use the Volume Up trigger even if your device is in deep sleep mode. Also, you can enable the flashlight to work even when you have music playing, so be careful when holding the Volume Up button—we don't want you going deaf. This is where you may want to adjust the Long-press delay, although I found the default setting perfect for my use. This type of stuck button isn't mechanically broken, so there's no need to replace parts. A simple cleaning should do the trick, and I'll show you the most effective method I've found below.
Materials Neededisopropyl alcohol Q-tips (or any cotton swabs) canned air duster

Step 1: Clean Around the Sides of the ButtonFirst up, turn your device off and remove the battery if possible just to be on the safe side. Next, dip your Q-tip into some high-percentage isopropyl alcohol. You want to fully saturate the Q-tip, but you don't want it to be dripping wet, so shake off any excess alcohol.From here, use the Q-tip to clean the sides of the stuck button on any surface that sticks out from your phone, working the cotton fibers as far down into the cracks as possible. To be on the safe side, I'd recommend that you turn your phone upside-down while you work so that gravity will prevent any alcohol from seeping into your device. After you've thoroughly cleaned any parts of the stuck button that you can access, give the button a few clicks to help free up any grime that has accumulated.

Step 2: Clean the FrameNow that the button itself is relatively clean, you'll want to clean the part of your gadget that the button protrudes from. This is kind of tricky since the button usually fills this gap entirely, but if you press down on the stuck button, your Q-tip should be able to clean this area more effectively.So hold one side of the button down firmly, then use your alcohol Q-tip to clean the inside of the frame of the device where your button is housed. When you're done, hold down the opposite side of the button, then clean the area that your finger was previously blocking.

Step 3: Blow Debris Away with Canned AirAfter cleaning the button and surrounding frame, grab some canned air and put the nozzle parallel to the stuck button. From here, give it a few quick bursts of air to help free up any remaining debris, but be careful not to blow any dirt or grime down into the device. At this point, your stuck button should already be a lot more "clicky" and easy to use, but you may have to repeat these steps a time or two to clean out all of the dirt and grime. In general, we never really put much thought into fonts, but they comprise a huge portion of our online experience. A whimsical mood can easily be set by using something like Segoe Script, but switch it up to Sentinel and you've got a more sophisticated feel all of a sudden.If fonts can convey personality with such ease, wouldn't it be cool to put your own panache on a typeface? That's what developers Alexis Reigel and Marco Mueller were thinking when they created an awesome tool that lets you generate custom fonts from scratch. But don't feel intimidated by the concept of creating your own font, because this utility makes it incredibly easy. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Step 1: Create Your FontFrom any computer with a web browser, head to the Metaflop Modulator to begin creating your font. The interface is extremely intuitive—just use the sliders on the left to customize your font. And don't worry if you're unsure about what each particular slider does, just play around until you get a feel for things. Your changes will be shown with a set of live preview windows on the right, so it's easy to discern the differences. If you're starting to get comfortable with the interface already, give "nerd mode" a try. Click the button labeled "nerd" in the top-left panel, then the sliders will turn into fine-tuned numerical values.

Step 2: Install the Font on Your SystemWhen you've found that perfect look, you can install the font on your computer rather easily. Click the "open type font" link in the upper-left panel to begin. This will export your font as an OTF file, which can easily be installed on most operating systems. Simply launch this file to begin. From here, the process may be slightly different depending on your OS, but for Windows users, simply click the "Install" button at the top of the screen that comes up next. In Mac OS X, it will open in Font Book, so just hit "Install Font" to proceed. Now you can use your custom-made font in any app on your system. Thankfully, there are apps out there for your Android to help alleviate this inconvenience.Rotation Manager by Meerkat is one such app, and it's pretty effective at clamping down on unwanted screen rotations. This app also gives you numerous options as far as orientations go, which can get very confusing if you don't know the ropes. Step 1: Install Rotation ManagerTo install Rotation Manager, simply head to the Google Play Store and download the app for free.Install Rotation Manager for free from the Google Play Store

Step 2: Set Up Rotation ManagerAn initial set-up and tutorial page will greet you when you open Rotation Manager for the first time. Swipe to the next page and tap on the circular icon next to "Auto-Rotate On" until the text changes to "Forced Portrait." This will set portrait mode by default and let you customize rotation for other apps later on.

Step 3: Grant PermissionsOnce you're on the final page, you'll have the option to disable the "Permanent Notification," which is enabled by default. Leaving this on will have the app show up as a notification whenever you swipe down from the top of your screen, but it will also help ensure that the app doesn't get closed by Android's memory management system while running in the background. So it's a judgement call, but we haven't experienced any issues with it turned off, so that's what we'd recommend. After you've set that up, turn on Rotation Manager using the circular power icon in the app. You'll be redirected to a system settings page for Usage data access, so scroll down and search for "Rotation Manager." Once you've found it, tap on it and turn on Allow usage tracking. When you're done, head back to the app and hit the check symbol at the bottom of the page to finalize initial setup.

Step 4: Choose Which Apps Can RotateNow it's time to set up and control the orientation of individual apps. On the main screen of Rotation Manager, select an orientation by tapping on either the vertical or horizontal icons next to a specific app to lock it into either landscape or portrait mode. Highlighting both icons will allow that particular app to auto-rotate.

Step 5: Never Deal with Accidental Rotation AgainAt this point, you're all set up and ready to go. From now on, you won't have to worry about an app auto-rotating when you didn't want it to, and instead, it'll be locked into the orientation you chose in Rotation Manager.As mentioned before, there are more options as far as global rotation settings go. You can always go back to learn about each settings by heading to the side navigation menu in Rotation Manager and choosing "Instructions."
